My career spans three decades. I went in as a E-1 and retired as a E-6. My specialty (rate or mos) for non naval personnel, was Radio communications. I participated in Viet Nam and its evacuation, the second Arab-Israeli War, Panama, The Gulf of Sidra incident and both operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm, I will give a brief description of each in this bio, along with dates and the units I was attached to.

Jan 6 1973 Reported to Uss Mount Hood Ae-29 Forward deployed to the Western Pacific.

Apr 01 1973 Tad to Uss Iwo Jima Lph-9 (R&R)
Apr 15 1973 Report back to Uss Mount Hood Ae-29
Sep 1973 Deployed with Uss Mount Hood Ae-29 to the Western Pacific
Oct 1973 Deployed with Uss Mount Hood Ae-29 to the Far Eastern Theater of the Western Pacific in response to the Arab Israeli Conflict to Gonzo Station in mouth of the Persian Gulf just south of Iran. Spent 90 days here
Apr 1974 Reported to SSC San Diego for "TTY REPAIR SCHOOL"

APR 1974-Sept 1977 Remain on Uss Mount Hood AE-29 and deployed on 2 more Western Pacific deployments.
Sept 1977 Report to NTCC Cubi Pt Republic of the Philippines
Sept 1978 Transfer to Patwing One Det Cubi Pt
Sep 1979 Transferred to Naval Oceanographic Research Station Pt Sur CA
Sept 1981 Transferred to Uss Scott DDG-993 Precomm Crew (Commissioned OCT 1981)
Sept 1982 Transferred to SSC SANDIEGO for School
Mar 1983 Transferred to Precomm Crew USS YORKTOWN Cg-48 (Commissioned JULY 1984)
Aug 1985 Deployed to Mederterrain Sea for 6 months aboard Cg-48
JAN-MAR 1986 Gulf of Sidra incident. Ship claimed one Nanucka gunboat sank with Harpoon missile (this was one of Col Kadafy Russian made gunboats)
Mar 1987 Transferred to 20th Naval Construction Regiment (Seabee's) (worked in Mars Station)
Aug 1989 Transferred to Uss Affray MSO-511 Newport RI
Sept 1990 Transferred to Comideastfor in Abu Dabi U.A.E. In support of Desert Shield
Jan 1991 Transferred to Uss Leader MSO-490 in support of Desert Storm. Commenced Minesweep operation in Minefield Ten 2 miles off the IRAQI coast for 6 months. This was 5 days in and 2 days out of the minefield.
Oct 1991 Loaded all Persian Gulf MSO's on a Heavy lift ship and sailed for the USA arriving in Little Creek Va. 30 Days later, for Decommisioning of all three ships
Jan 1992 Transferred to Uss Richmond K Turner CG-20 Charleston Sc
Mar 1993 Retired to Pascagoula Ms
Currently still here in July 2000
